Legend is a Madeira-finish single malt whisky, bottled at 40% abv.. This whisky has a Kosher certificate. Penderyn Distillery, located in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, brings you the single malt whisky from its Dragon Range. The Penderyn Dragon whisky range was first introduced in 2015. All offering a stylish and sophisticated bottle and gift carton, with great award-winning whisky inside! The Red Dragon on the design references the national flag of Wales, Welshman Henry Tudor took the flag to Bosworth, where, in 1485, he became the last king of England to be crowned on the battlefield. Full of Welsh pride, this whisky also offers a profile of fresh apples and citrus, with fudge and raisins to create a complex balance. The palate is smooth with fresh and dried fruits combined to create a sweet yet refreshing taste, and the whisky finishes long on Madeira cake and sultanas. Legend is brought to you by Penderyn. The rare Welsh distillery produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits at their distillery on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Wales, UK. Distilling in Wales was a lost art, but in the late 1990s, in a Hirwaun pub in the Welsh valleys, a group of friends chatted about establishing the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. They dreamt of creating a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold, represented today by Penderyn’s ‘gold seam’. The village of Penderyn was chosen because of the site’s own supply of fresh natural spring water, which is used alongside inspiration, hard work, attention to detail, the finest barley, expert female distillers and the best American oak bourbon casks, to craft and create our Penderyn’s award winning Whiskeys.
Penderyn Legend is a no-age-statement single malt Welsh whisky matured initially in American oak bourbon barrels before a secondary finish in ex-Madeira casks. Bottled at 40 % ABV in a 70 cl presentation, this expression is non-chill-filtered, carries a Kosher certificate, and forms part of the Dragon range’s recent packaging update—now featuring a lighter bottle and reduced-weight carton for enhanced sustainability.
TASTING NOTES – Nose, Aromas of fresh apples and bright citrus fruits intermingle with rich cream fudge and sun-dried sultana raisins, creating a complex yet clean and well-balanced introduction to this Madeira-finished malt.
TASTING NOTES – Palate, incredibly smooth, unveiling layers of succulent dried fruits—sultanas and apricots—with delicate sweetness balanced by a whisper of gentle bitterness that keeps each sip refreshing.
SERVE – Best enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped or Glencairn glass at room temperature to fully appreciate its layered aromas and flavours. A few drops of spring water will open up additional citrus and oak nuances, while a single large ice cube will soften the profile and highlight its sweeter elements.
