Making the case for a men’s health support group at Ryerson University“Take it like a man” is not good enough. Men account for over 75% of suicides. Yet men under-utilise mental health services and sometimes engage instead in unhealthy behaviours that put themselves or others at risk. Efforts to address this crisis have been blocked at Ryerson. Let’s address these problems together for the good of all students.
Rob Whitley is the Principal Investigator of the Social Psychiatry Research and Interest Group (SPRING) at the Douglas Hospital Research Center. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University. He has published over 100 papers in the field of social psychiatry and currently leads numerous projects investigating social factors and mental illness.
