Growing up in a Southern Baptist church and in a strict home, I was taught that being gay was not accepted. I was craving and wanting family acceptance especially from my mom. I was sent to have ‘conversion therapy’ done while I was in high school. In sitting down with my christian mom and asking her some questions to see how she and dad changed from not accepting me being gay to accepting me and loving me. These questions are not normally talked about because this is the past, but I thought this might give good insight to other moms and dads out there as well as other people struggling to come out to their parents. I am extremely blessed that my parents were able to accept and love me for who I am.
