About the Speaker:
As founder and lead investigator of UBC’s Men’s Health Research program, Dr. John Oliffe focuses on masculinities as it influences men’s health behaviours including help-seeking and illness management, and its impact on partners, families and overall life quality. Attracting more than $27 million in research funding and producing 300 publications his research program has advanced significant insights to male depression and suicidality, psychosocial prostate cancer and smoking cessation amid contributing tailored community-based and e-health programs to augment traditional health care services. Findings drawn from his research offer salient guidance to clinicians and researchers who work with men.
