Gay men and doctors across the nation are discovering that coming out of the closet is as good for your physical health as it is for your psychological well-being. “Over the past ten years, I’ve treated more openly gay or bisexual men in my practice,” says Dr. Dudley Danoff, author of The Ultimate Guide to Male Sexual Health and urologist to many Hollywood stars. Dr. Danoff goes on to explain that though the actual number of gay patients has not increased, the openness of the gay community in recent years has emboldened guys to be more up-front about their sexuality and their health concerns. Given the recent Cleveland Clinic study that found over 60 percent of men feel embarrassed talking to their doctors about their sexual health, this is a positive trend for the gay community! Dudley Danoff, MD talks about the fact the same issues are found in both older Gay and Straight men.
