Because I can’t comprehend the irresponsible behavior of so many of us in the gay community — I decided to host a panel discussion with these healthcare practitioners to get some questions answered, myths dispelled, and to set the record straight.

It is my hope that this video will give us the information we need to stay safe, and that you will share this after watching it.

Jason Villareal
BIO: Jason G. Villarreal NP is a gay Latino nurse practitioner at the HIV clinic serving Medicare/Medicaid/uninsured people at Columbia-New York Presbyterian Hospital. They primarily serve the communities where they are located: Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem, and the Bronx. These neighborhoods are made up primarily of BIPOC, and in his particular practice most of his patients are QBIPOC, with the majority of his patients being spanish Speakers. Jasin provides comprehensive services to people living with and at risk of HIV, including HIV treatment, PrEP, sexual health, mental health, trans healthcare, and general primary care with a focus on the GLBTQ community.

David Malebranche
BIO: Dr. David J. Malebranche, M.D., M.P.H. is a Haitian-American medical doctor working in the field of HIV/AIDS, both research and clinical. He is a 1st generation Haitian-American and his mother is European-American. His father was born in Anse-à-Veau, Haiti and came to the United States in the 1960s. Dr. Malebranche was an assistant professor at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia until September 2012. In November 2012, he accepted an appointment as a primary care physician at the University of Pennsylvania’s Student Health Center, and lives in Philadelphia, PA.

Jeffrey Kwong
BIO: Jeffrey Kwong is a nurse practitioner at Gotham Medical Group in New York City and a professor of nursing at Rutgers University. He is a certified HIV specialist and specializes in LGBT primary care, PreP, and HIV treatment.

PRIYUMVADA NAIK
BIO: Dr. Priyumvada M Naik, MD, is a Pulmonary Disease specialist in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Medical College Of Georgia in 2001, having over 19 years of diverse experience, especially in Pulmonary Disease. Her certifications are Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Because of her transplant background, she has extra training in immunology, advanced lung disease, ECMO, etc. This includes interstitial lung disease and genetic disorders like Cystic Fibrosis.
