While most people wrapped themselves in thick winter clothes, some brave men only wearing trunks enjoyed diving and swimming in subzero temperatures in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
Di Huanran, born in 1959, performed diving at the Jingpo Lake where the temperature reached minus 30 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Di jumped from a frozen waterfall into the lake, astonishing many spectators.
“It’s amazing. I watched it on TV, but it feels different to watch it at the scene. It’s incredible. It’s so cold, but he is very brave,” said Guo Zihua, a tourist from Shanghai.
This is the 33rd year that he performed diving in frozen winter.
“It is a kind of flying. I enjoy this feeling. I hope tourists across China come to visit Jingpo Lake, and enjoy the beautiful scene of the lake. Jingpo Lake is so beautiful,” said Di.
In other cities, some men enjoyed swimming in outdoor rivers.
“This is unique in Heilongjiang and our northeast region. Winter swimming helps to keep health and happy mood,” said Chen Guoben, 85-year-old winter-swimming lover.
“I feel very good, very comfortable. Just like eating ice creams in summer, it makes me feel very happy. I like the joy the frozen winter in north China has brought,” said Huang Zhiyong, another winter-swimming lover. More on: http://newscontent.cctv.com/NewJsp/news.jsp?fileId=336007
