We explore the intersectionality of race and gender and the impact that has on our LBGTQIA+ community. We will address being Black and Gay in America as well as Allyship for the LGBTQIA+ BIPOC community. Presenters also reflect on personal experiences from within the LGBTQIA+ community. Our Virtual EDGY takes a deeper dive in to the historical context of being Black and gay as well as the criminalization of Black lesbians in our society. How can we encourage others to take the steps to become an ally and the support one can offer to advance one’s understanding of LGBTQIA+. Regardless of your role, through EDGY we will be able to grow and learn from one another.
