Music by Ryuichi Sakamoto
Set in 1983 northern Italy, Call Me by Your Name (2017) tells the short lived, but intense love story of 17-year-old Elio and 24 year-old Oliver, a graduate-student assistant to Elio’s father, a professor of archaeology. Director Luca Guadagnino didn’t consider it a “gay” movie, but a film about “the beauty of the newborn idea of desire, unbiased and uncynical”, reflecting his motto of living “with a sense of joie de vivre”.
Ryuichi Sakamoto originally wrote “Germination” for the film “Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence”, in which he starred with David Bowie.
