DEAR ANGELS is a short documentary made by Charlotte De Cort & Heleen Declercq in which two generations of LGBTQ+ people reflect on their struggles in the past and present, including a proud transwoman, a black American gay and a Moroccon gender-fluid “mermaid”. One of the Angels in the film is Darryl E. Woods, who’s voice can be heard as the voice over of the documentary. With his expressive dance, Woods creates a coherence between the different stories being told. To reflect the sensitivity of the subject in the colourful images, the characters of the queer community were filmed on film. The soundtrack also contributes some dreamy and melancholic tunes underneath the struggles that result from what was, and still is, difficult for anyone who deviates from the norm.
