These last few months have been transforming for the United States. Once again, we have discovered that although we pride ourselves on calling this country “The Land of The Free”, that is not necessarily the case. The death of George Floyd had sparked an outcry in American Society. This Pride Month was filled with unspeakable emotions, it carried the spark of political activism and was celebrated under the banner of unity. I’ve personally attended 8 marches this past June, where dozens of thousands of people were passionately exercising their 1st Amendment and were looking for answers to our broken system.

I’ve included clips from those rallies/marches in my project, which I titled “Political Pride”. In it, I tried to capture the essence of the spirit of political activism, uniting themes from both the Gay Liberation movement and the Black Lives Matter movement. My experimental short visualizes concepts of fear, unity, anger, and pride and how the four are interconnected. I hope you enjoy watching it and hopefully, it will provoke an emotional response.
